The Social and Self Awareness Club (SSAC) was formed as an extension of the Department of Foundation Course in 2017 to take up projects that are socially and personally relevant. It aims to create awareness and sensitize students about social issues while at the same time motivating them to develop leadership qualities through self-awareness and make them responsible citizens.

REIKI- THE ANCIENT ART OF HEALING

The Social and Self Awareness Club organized a webinar on Reiki with Ms. Prerna Bafna, Ms. Tina Katariya, Ms. Tejal Parekh, and Ms. Tanvi Jain as the speakers.
Reiki is a Japanese technique of energy healing that comes under the umbrella of complementary and alternative medicine. Reiki masters employ a treatment known as palm healing, also known as hands-on-healing, in which a "universal energy" is claimed to be communicated from the practitioner's palms to the patient in terms of promoting physical or psychologically healing.
The guest speakers addressed Reiki and their own life experiences with that as well. During the webinar, participants were involved in self-motivation and meditation exercises.
CONSTITUTIONAL RIGHTS, DUTIES & OBLIGATIONS

The Social and Self Awareness Club organized a webinar on Constitutional rights; Duties & Obligations with Adv. Siddhasen Yadav was the speaker.
Mr. Siddhasen Yadav was our guest speaker for the day, who had an interactive talk about the Initiatives taken for fostering Constitutional Rights, Duties, and Obligations. He spoke about different rights and duties and had a discussion on different human rights and explained it in detail with his own life experiences.
It was an interactive webinar. Participants were involved and went back with knowledge of rights. Participants were enlightened about how things work according to law. It ended with a Q&A round.

Healthy Lifestyle and Cancer Prevention
October 9, 2020A Webinar on Healthy Lifestyle and Cancer Prevention was conducted by the Social and Self Awareness Club in collaboration with Sanjeevani…Life Beyond Cancer, an award winning, registered, Non- Profit Organization. The event was aimed at spreading awareness about healthy, positive lifestyle and early detection and prevention of cancer. The webinar was attended by 30 students from various fields, both from HR College and other esteemed colleges. The presentation given by the Speakers Ms. Arpita Chakraborty and Ms. Florina were really topical and informative.
Tech Skills 101
October 18, 2020The Social and Self Awareness Club of HR College conducted a two-day Webinar on ‘Tech Skills 101’ covering topics like ‘GSuite’ and ‘LinkedIn’. The webinar was conducted on Zoom platform and was attended by approximately 120 students from various fields, both from HR College and other esteemed colleges. Speaker Ms. Jeni Asher, a Strategic Marketing Specialist at Indian Institute of Digital Marketing, gave a presentation that was really topical, informative and enthralling.
Five Star Green Homes
November 6, 2020Social and Self Awareness Club conducted an event on ‘Five Star Green Homes' which focused on the topic,enriching eco-friendly home along with environment. The speaker of the session was Mr. Jagdish Sandhanshiv, who is actively working towards betterment of environment.
Silent Voices - Bring the kind back to MANKIND

The presentation given by the speakers Ms. Sonal Alva, fulltime Educational Manager at Welfare of Stray Dogs NGO and Ms. Shreya Kelkar and Mr. Viraj Krishnaraj Rao, volunteers at Animal Welfare Fund & Co.

October 10-14, 2020The event included many competitions, an informative lecture on ‘Rationale and Evolution of Human Rights through three generations of Rights' by Professor Sudhakar Solomonraj, a topical webinar on ‘Pluralism, Peace Building and Inter faith Conversations’ by Dr. Shehernaaz Nalwalla and a Panel Discussion on Menstrual Hygiene.
AWAAZ…LET THE SILENCE BE HEARD!
February 26, 2021A Panel Discussion on the stigma associated with mental health, named, Awaaz… Let the Silence be heard, was conducted in collaboration with Aapka Sahara Foundation to raise a voice for this sensitive issue while also ensuring to provide a safe space for the audience and panelists to share their own stories and experiences with regard to mental health. Dr. Amanpreet Nagpal moderated the event. Some notable students of H.R. College formed the panel for the discussion.
A TALK ON LGBTQ

In the academic year 2019-20, SSAC organised several events starting with a talk by Vandita Morarka, Founder and CEO of One Future Collective, an organization working towards issues of gender justice, mental health, and legal reform. This talk was organised in collaboration with the Women's Development Cell on LGBTQ rights.

A Poster painting competition was organized by SSAC for the students of HR College on the themes of: diversity, urban planning, fundamental rights and current Indian political scenario.
WORKSHOP ON CANCER AWARENESS
August 30, 2019
A workshop on Cancer Awareness was organised by SSAC in collaboration with Sanjeevani - Life Beyond Cancer. Sanjeevani is a non-profit organization working for prevention and early detection of cancer and providing care, counselling and rehabilitation to persons fighting cancer with a focus on navigating them from dis-ease to wellness through various activities.
CONSTITUTION WEEK
November 26-30, 2019
The National Council for Promotion of Sindhi Language (NCPSL) Ministry of Human Resource Development (MHRD), Government of India, in collaboration with Kishinchand Chellaram Law College; H.R. College, Bombay Teachers' Training College and Principal K.M. Kundnani College of Pharmacy [managed by the Hyderabad (Sind) National Collegiate Board] organised a Constitution Week. An Elocution Competition was organised at H.R. College by the members of SSAC during the Constitution Week. The topics for the same were as follows:
- Politics of Language in India
- Complexities of Multi-party System in India
- Greater State Autonomy to strengthen Indian Federalism

The members of SSAC also helped organise the 20th edition of the Gulestan and Rustom Billimoria Youth Seminar at the Asiatic Society of Mumbai.
SSAC participation in Inter and Intra- Collegiate activities:
- Various inter-collegiate events at Khalsa College, organised in view of the 550th Birth Anniversary of Guru Nanak Dev ji.
- INNOV8, an inter-collegiate Tech Fest organised by the Insight Club of H.R. College held on August 8 and August 23, 2019.
- Human Chain and Walkathon organised by the NSS Unit during the Swachhata Pakhwada.
