THE STUDENTS’ COUNCIL

The Students’ Council is a student body consisting of student representatives from various classes as well as from NSS and cultural committees and has always worked on the ideals of 'For the students, by the students. The Council helps the college to conduct various activities like admissions, arranging seminars, distribution of results, alumni meetings, and many more.

The purpose of the Students’ Council is to allow students to develop leadership by organizing and carrying out college activities and service projects. In addition to planning events that contribute to college spirit and community welfare, the student council is the voice of the student body. It works towards the betterment of the students and their college experience. The Council consists of 8 departments, 23 core members, and 450+ sub-committee members working together for all the activities. This prestigious apex body serves as a bridge between the students and the college. We firmly believe in and abide by the motto, 'Students of today, leaders of tomorrow.'


ACTIVITIES 2024-2025

FY Self-Financed Degree Orientation

August 3, 2024         Attendees:550+ students and parents

The Students’ Council of H.R. College organized the FY Self-Financed Degree Orientation on 3 August 2024 at the Rama & Sundri Watumull Auditorium. The event featured Chief Guest Dr. Niranjan Hiranandani, Guest of Honour IPS Officer Mr. Vishwas Nagre, Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, and other key faculty members.

The program began with the Lighting of the Lamp, followed by cultural performances and the screening of an H.R. College video. Principal Dr. Ramchandani welcomed students, calling them future leaders and brand ambassadors of the college. Dr. Hiranandani emphasized the importance of fitness, while Mr. Nagre shared his experiences from the 26/11 attacks, inspiring the audience with patriotic poems.

"Voyager," the H.R. College magazine, was released, and CA rankers were felicitated. The Students’ Council Core Committee for 2024-25 was introduced, along with faculty and club leaders. The Enactus Club promoted their "Aajeevika" project, and the Cultural Committee invited students to participate in Malhar ’24. Vice Principal Dr. Rani Tyagi explained the examination and credit systems, followed by presentations from the Parents Connect Club and International Programmes Committee.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks and the National Anthem.

**FYBCom Orientation Report 2024-25**

The Students’ Council of H.R. College organized the FYBCom Orientation on 6 August 2024 at the Rama & Sundri Watumull Auditorium. The event began with the arrival of Chief Guest Ms. Maya Shahani, Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani, Vice Principals Dr. Rani Tyagi and Dr. Jasbir Kaur Sodi, faculty members, and students.

The program opened with the Lighting of the Lamp and a traditional dance performance by Niharika Ghadigaonkar, followed by a Sindhi cultural dance by the Sindhi Society. An H.R. College video showcasing the past year's events was then screened.

Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani welcomed the students, referring to them as the brand ambassadors of the college. Chief Guest Ms. Maya Shahani shared insights on self-belief and the history of HSNC University. The event also included the release of the college's official magazine, "Voyager," and the felicitation of CA rankers.

The Students’ Council Core Committee for 2024-25 was introduced, and Vice Principal Dr. Jasbir Kaur Sodi presented the BCom faculty. Leaders of the college's 40+ clubs and committees were introduced, followed by a captivating dance performance by Bhoomika Sharma and Bhoomika Haswani from the Cultural Committee, who also invited students to participate in Malhar ’24.

Vice Principal Dr. Rani Tyagi provided an overview of the Examination System, while the International Programmes Committee and The H.R. Litterateurs shared information about their activities and invited students to join.

The event concluded with a vote of thanks by Joint General Secretary Aniruddha Devgire, followed by the National Anthem.

Bandhan – Thread of Love

In celebration of Rakshabandhan, the National Association for the Blind (NAB) set up a stall at H.R. College to showcase handcrafted rakhis made by blind artists. The event, named "Bandhan," focused on inclusivity, empowerment, and social responsibility.

Key Highlights:

- Stall: Displayed unique, intricately designed handcrafted rakhis. - Student Participation: Students assisted with sales, marketing, and crowd management. - NAB Stories: The NAB team shared inspiring stories about the blind artists. - Fundraising: Over ₹3000 was raised to support NAB’s initiatives. - Impact: The event promoted unity, empathy, and social responsibility among students.

"Bandhan" was a successful initiative that highlighted the spirit of inclusivity and social support, thanks to the collaborative efforts of NAB, college students, and administration.

ANTI RAGGING CAMPAIGN 2024-25 REPORT

August 12 to August 18

The Students’ Council of H.R. College ran an Anti-Ragging Campaign to foster a safe and respectful environment. The initiative, aligned with UGC guidelines, included classroom sessions to educate students and encourage reporting of ragging incidents. A patrol from Marine Drive to Oval Maidan distributed pamphlets and raised public awareness. The campaign also featured anti-ragging messages sent via college groups, creative photo booths with slogans, and a poster-making competition with digital anti-ragging messages. These efforts collectively promoted a strong anti-ragging culture and reinforced the importance of a safe college environment.

Dhvani Bhanushali Returns to H.R. College

August 24, 2024         Attendees: 100+ students

On August 24, 2024, renowned singer-actress and H.R. College alumna Dhvani Bhanushali returned to her alma mater to promote her upcoming movie, *Kahan Suru Kahan Khatam*. The event, organized by The Students' Council in collaboration with the college administration and Dhvani's team, provided an exciting opportunity for students to interact with the star.

Dhvani shared insights from her journey in the film industry, performed a song, and captivated the audience. Vice Principal Dr. Rani Tyagi honored Dhvani with a bouquet and a token of appreciation for her contributions to entertainment.

Accompanied by her co-star Aashim Gulati, the event was filled with enthusiasm, as students took photos and selfies with the celebrities. Dr. Tyagi remarked, “We are thrilled to have Dhvani back on campus, inspiring the next generation of leaders and artists.” The event highlighted the importance of pursuing passions and striving for excellence.

Ganesh Aagman

August 30, 2024         Attendees: 200+

The Students Council organized a Ganesh Aagman celebration. This auspicious event allowed the students to come together to celebrate and worship and pray to Lord Ganesha even before his arrival on Ganesh Chaturthi, fostering a sense of unity and cultural appreciation within the college and creating a devotional and festive atmosphere.

The council office bearers welcomed the principal, junior college supervisor, and all the teachers from the junior college. The associates of the college also joined the puja.

The event began with a dance invoking the blessings of Lord Ganesh followed by more dances on Lord Ganesha’s devotional songs in contemporary style. Melodious singing performances captivated the audience and filled the air with devotion.

The arti of Lord Ganesha was performed by the teachers. The induction ceremony of the office bearers followed. The principal addressed the gathering, highlighting the significance of such cultural celebrations in a diverse and dynamic educational environment. She encouraged students to actively participate in cultural events to foster a well-rounded personality.

General Body Meeting 2024-25

September 19, 2024         Attendees: 96

The Students’ Council held its General Body Meeting on 19th November 2024, welcoming volunteers and the Core Committee. The meeting began with speeches from Dr. Pooja Ramchandani (Principal) and Ms. Shubhada Kanchan (Teacher In-Charge). The Core team introduced themselves, explaining their roles. Each department shared their contributions, and the council reviewed its achievements from the first half of the academic year. Upcoming events like Assisi Bhavan, Numero Uno, the Alumni Meet, and the farewell ceremony were discussed. A Q&A session followed, and the meeting concluded with the distribution of council t-shirts. The event ended on a positive note, setting the tone for the year ahead.

Talent Parade - Intra Win

The Students' Council won 1st place at the Talent Parade 2024, themed “Around the Globe,” where they represented Mexico. The council participated in Music, Dance, Fashion Show, and Unique Talent events, securing top spots:

Judged by notable figures such as Sana Sultan and Monali Thakur, the event showcased exceptional talent and ended with a victorious performance, creating lasting memories and inspiring future success.

PRE-DIWALI PRESIDENTS’ LUNCH

October 24, 2024         No. of Attendees: 101

The Presidents’ Meet, a special Pre-Diwali Lunch organized by our Principal Dr. Pooja Ramchandani along with The Students' Council, was held at The Den restaurant. This event marked half tenure of students leadership and was a time for celebration and reflection. With around 85 club leaders, the meet began at 11:30 am with a warm welcome and interaction among the leaders. A vibrant dance performance set the mood, reflecting the joy of the upcoming Diwali festivities.

The General Secretary Vedant Surve delivered an opening speech, expressing gratitude for the support of the principal and faculty, and highlighting the achievements of our students and college. Principal Dr. Ramchandani delivered an inspiring message, encouraging students to continue their leadership journey with passion and dedication. Several other student leaders shared their reflections, focusing on teamwork, personal growth and opportunities.

The event concluded with the principal distributing gifts to everyone and wishing everyone a prosperous Diwali.

ASSISI BHAVAN VISIT 2024

December 6, 2024         Attendees: 22 students (56 inmates)

The Students’ Council marked another social initiative in its calendar by making a visit to Assisi Bhavan, an old age home located in Goregaon. The Students’ Council has been visiting the old age home for the past two years and this year also visited the old age home in the evening.

The initiative began by playing a game of Passing the Parcel amongst the members of the core committee and the women residing there. There were songs sung by the students from our college to entertain and make the environment livelier and fun. A game of Housie was also played by the inmates, with the committee members helping them.

With the Christmas season round the corner, Jai Mathuria (Head of Marketing and Hospitality department) volunteered to dress up as Santa Claus and gave the donations collected for the elderly in the form of hampers. Each hamper contained various daily use products like soap, toothpaste, toothbrush, napkin, gown, moisturizer, etc. Along with these products, the students also contributed wheat, cereals, diabetes machine kit and fruits to the hamper. Everyone danced on the old tunes and enjoyed the lively atmosphere that was created.

MONETA 2024 Report

December 12-14, 2024         Attendees: 47 students

The Students' Council of H. R. College participated in MONETA 2024, a prestigious national-level financial fest organized by R. A. Podar College of Commerce and Economics. The fest, aimed at promoting financial literacy, saw participation from top colleges across India.

Under the leadership of CL: Dev Solanki and ACL: Prisha Chinta, H. R. College secured the Overall First Podium. The students excelled in various events, winning multiple podium positions:

Mega Blood Donation Drive 2024 Report

Date: 18th December 2024 Attendees: 190

On 18th December 2024, the N.S.S. Unit and The Students' Council of H.R. College, in collaboration with Akhil Bharatiya Terapanth Yuvak Parishad, organized a successful Mega Blood Donation Drive. Held from 9:00 AM to 5:00 PM, the event saw an impressive 152 registrations, with 117 successful donations after medical screening.

The drive raised awareness about the importance of blood donation and showcased the college's commitment to community service. The collaboration between the organizing bodies ensured the event’s success and promoted social responsibility among students.

This initiative highlighted H.R. College's dedication to societal well-being and made a lasting impact on the participants.
