The BAF Committee of H.R. College of Commerce and Economics orchestrated an enlightening event titled "CAREER QUEST," featuring distinguished financial experts. Certified Financial Planner (CFP), Mr. Aagam Pipariya; Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), Mr. Jay Bafna; Association of Chartered Certified Accountants (ACCA), Mr. Dhatrreya Prasad; and Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Mr. Naman Puri, shared comprehensive insights into diverse professional courses within the financial industry, highlighting their significance for career development and expanding financial expertise. The speakers even discussed the career advancement prospects associated with each course, and they highlighted how these certifications can open doors to various roles within the financial industry. The sessions encompassed the significance of these courses for career growth, offering a panorama of opportunities in the financial industry, and addressing queries in a dynamic Q&A session. The BAF Committee of H.R. College of Commerce & Economics organized a seminar on ‘How to file Income Tax Returns?’ by Mr. Adil Harianawala, a Chartered Accountant, working for KPMG. The seminar started with the speaker informing students about the process of filing Income Tax Return (ITR) and discussed various heads of income used for filing returns.
A discussion on important documents needed while filing returns were mentioned along with information on various sections to claim deductions. The webinar ended with a Question-and-Answer session wherein the speaker addressed students’ queries and a formal vote of thanks.

The BAF Committee of HR College of Commerce & Economics organised a webinar on “Placement Experience”. The speaker of the session was Ms. Tanishka Palvia, Financial Analyst for Deutsche Bank. The webinar was conducted to answer various queries of students regarding placements.
The speaker stated her own experience of placements, the ups and downs she went through, and how she bagged a job for herself.
The major points highlighted by the speaker were that a student must read a job description carefully, understand about the company’s working, their ethical standards, and do a bit of research on the company before appearing for the interview. During the conclusion, the speaker summed up all major points again, comforted the students by addressing their questions calmly, and wished them success.

It was followed by games and dance performances planned by the committee for the beneficiaries. Ms. Maya, co-founder of TWEET Foundation threw light on the mission and vision of the trust; shared narratives of and challenges faced by transgenders. This was followed by a video screening of their struggle to co-exist with society.

The BAF Committee hosted a CFA seminar for students at H.R. College. The honourable speaker for the session, Ms. Archana Khetan discussed her career path and the challenges she encountered along the way, and how she overcame them to become a CFA.

She also provided a quick overview of the contents, the course, the typical amount of time needed, the fee structure, and the registration procedure. STOCK MARKET 101

BAF Committee held a stock market webinar for students at HR College. Mr. Kalyan Kumar, the session's speaker talked about the psychology of money, how money moves about, and the numerous rewards that come from investing in different asset classes for example banks, gold, and the stock market.
Following a brief explanation of what an IPO is, the discussion moved on to typical market jargons beginner errors, risk management, and index.
The speaker also provided a quick overview of mutual funds and the many advantages and disadvantages of investing in them as opposed to stocks. He also discussed his own professional journey from a novice to an expert in the subject. The webinar successfully came to an end following a session to address any last-minute queries.

In order to learn the art of managing finance, the BAF Committee presented Finspect 2023, a one-of-a-kind finance event to test the skill sets of budding finance and accounting enthusiasts. This competitive event tests co-ordination skills, technical skills and presence of mind.
PRE-EVENT:
OWN IT YOURS - IN THE SHOES OF BUSINESS TYCOONS
In the pre-event for Finspect participants had to showcase their creativity through an exciting and humorous trailer of the company assigned to them. The contingents had to make a given existing company their own and make a grand reveal through an entertaining trailer.
STICK STACK STONE (SPORTS EVENT)
This was a sports event about an Indian game called ‘Lagori’ with a lot of fun twists.
MIND THE GAAP
Mind the GAAP was an accounting event where the participants were required to present financial statements in an innovative way. The event had one elimination round and one main round. In the elimination, the accounting knowledge of participant’s was put to test. In the main event the participants had to give a presentation of the financial statements in a creative and innovative manner.
SAUDA KHARA KHARA
This business management event called sauda khara khara had 2 rounds: elimination and the final round. In the elimination round, ‘Risk hai toh Ishq hai’ various contingents battled against each other in a fun buzzer round followed by a game based on risk management. The contingents who qualified bought a product in the Finspect auction.
The three members of that contingent were required to perform a short gig centred on that product. The gig contained elements of business management such as marketing and strategizing. The contingents were required to create a brand name, tagline, and new logo for their product. The winner was decided on creativity, teamwork, Q&A, product placement, and humour.
SCAM! HERE WE GO AGAIN
Scam! Here We Go Again was a treasure hunt where the clues revolved around the participants’ financial literacy. Each contingent had to send three participants for this event. This event had two rounds. In the elimination round, participants had to crack codes and riddles to find items. They could not purchase them, but had to borrow them and convince people from around the college to give it to them.
For the final round, a treasure hunt was conducted around Churchgate, Colaba, and Fort. The participants had to crack codes and guess locations where they would receive some pieces of information. The pieces of information that participants collected earlier formed a SCAM, a case study, which they had to analyse.
FLAGSHIP EVENT:
MILLION DOLLAR MAFIA
Million Dollar Mafia was the flagship event, as well as the final event before the closing ceremony. The event was a boardgame made by the committee. The game revolved around the variety of options that one has after finishing high-school from the perspective of their career. The game was a perfect mix of luck and skills, as participants were also asked to perform some tasks during the entire course of the game.

A CAREER COUNSELLING WITH HR ALUMNI
June 12 & 13, 2021Attendees: Day 1: 60 | Day 2: 40
The Bachelor of Accounting and Finance (BAF) Committee of H.R. College organized a career counseling session – 'A Word with the Alumni' – in which six college alumni pursuing different professional courses, spoke about their experiences.
On the first day Mr. Viraj Shah (CA aspirant), Mr. Nishil Shah (Actuarial aspirant), and Ms. Tanishka Palvia (CFA aspirant); introduced the audience to CA, Actuarial Science, and CFA respectively.
On the second day, Mr. Krish Khetwani (CFP Aspirant), Mr. Param Shah (ACCA aspirant), and Ms. Vidhi Ranka (MBA aspirant); spoke about CFP, ACCA, and MBA respectively.
All of the speakers explained in detail the course structure and syllabus, the investment required, the difficulty level, the risks involved, and the career opportunities in each course. They also shared their preparation strategy and gave various tips to ace the exams in their respective field. They advised the students to pursue the course where one's interest lies, but at the same time research well and take into consideration all the other related factors before taking a final decision.
PERSONAL FINANCE

The speaker Mr. Nandish Desai is a post-graduate from EDI India and is a partner at Jagoinvestor. He has sound knowledge regarding financial planning and coaching and is highly skilled in strategic planning and personal finance. He explained how he wants people to come out of the “downloading mode” which would help them see investments from a new perspective. The speaker then asked the audience the definition of money. With favourable answers pouring in, the speaker then discussed “18 principles of life and money.”
In the context of earning, the speaker gave a thought-provoking idea that the game of wealth creation is more about time. He also mentioned that personal finance, as a goal should be on everyone's calendar. Many benefits of compounding were mentioned, with the angel investor Mr. Warren Buffet's net worth growth being displayed. Various asset classes were discussed, and the famous quote “risk and reward go hand in hand” was highlighted. The speaker also discussed the importance of maintaining a finance journal.
GOODS AND SERVICE TAX (GST)

The BAF Committee invited Mr. Anurag Singh Parihar, faculty at APS University for a webinar on goods and services tax. Mr. Parihar has years of experience in teaching, research, commerce, and taxation and is a professional tax consultant. He has also served as an Assistant Professor at Vindhya Institute of Management & Science (VIMS) in the Commerce Department, SRKCPM (Shri Rama Krishna College of Polytechnic & Management) along with several other institutions in various positions.
Mr. Parihar discussed GST and how it came into force in India and the way it works. He talked about the various types of GST registrations, which include a taxpayer, tax deductor, tax collector, GST practitioner, and non-resident taxable person. The students were then introduced to the types of GST codes i.e., the harmonized system of nomenclature/Service accounting Code.
The speaker further explained the seven slabs of GST and enlightened the students on the law of advanced ruling and place of supply. The webinar ended with a Q&A session.
BUSINESS VALUATION

The BAF Committee organized a webinar with Mrs. Anu Agrawal, a Chartered Accountant and consulting professional for CA, ACCA, Graduate, and Post Graduate Students. She has won Asia's 1000 women's Award 2021 as a women entrepreneur in the field of education.
The webinar on Business Valuation commenced with the speaker explaining the definition and meaning of valuation. Mrs. Agrawal discussed the various objectives and purposes behind valuating a business, and why it is essential to determine the value of a business accurately. She also explained in detail the three major methods of valuation: the asset method, the income method, and the cash flow method. She undermined the factors to be considered while using each method and the purpose behind using each one of them. Mrs. Agrawal also discussed how business valuation is not just a science but also an art. The webinar ended with a Q&A session.
DECODING DERIVATIVES

The BAF Committee organized a webinar with Mr. Vijay Bhambwani, founder and chairperson of Bhambwani Securities Pvt. Ltd. He has also worked as an executive guest columnist at DNA, CNBC- TV18 as a consultant at IIFL, and as the author of India's first commodity trading manual.
After a brief introduction about his experience with writing newspaper columns related to derivatives and other market segments, the students were then introduced to the term derivatives by the speaker and were taught how the cash market determines the cost of derivatives with the help of an incident that happened during his time at CNBC. He quoted derivatives to be “investment of steroids”, as the advantage factor is high on both the buying and the selling side. The speaker talked about the future of financial markets and how the entry of fin-tech companies like Robinhood and PayTM will increase participation in this field.
The webinar continued with the speaker explaining in detail about futures and options, the risk involved, and how lack of proper research and experience, can lead to huge losses. The speaker concluded his session with some real-life case studies on the derivatives market and highlighted the lesson learned from each one of them.
This was followed by a Q&A session where an active interaction took place and all the queries of the students were addressed.
GLOBAL ECONOMY

The BAF Committee organized a webinar on Global Economy with Mr. Jatan Gori, an applied research economist who is currently working as the Chief Economist at Hero Moto Corp.
At the beginning of the webinar, the effects of the Covid-19 pandemic on the Indian and Global Economy were discussed. Mr. Gori explained how the advanced countries are coping with the situation and gave reasons why India is lacking behind. The importance of ensuring a fast-paced vaccination drive for the economy to revive was highlighted. He discussed how various sectors of the economy have been affected by the pandemic and suggested some fiscal measures, which can be taken by the government to revive the sectors that have been worse affected.
The webinar ended with live interaction and discussion with the attendees wherein the speaker addressed all their questions regarding the economic situation.
EXCEL WORKSHOP
October 24 & 25, 2021Attendees: 80
The BAF Committee organized a workshop on Excel with Mrs. Harsha Parchani, Centre Head, R.advantec Computer Education. She has good skills in programming languages.
The speaker elaborated on the uses of Excel and its components, which include spreadsheets, Databases, and charts. A little light was also thrown upon different spreadsheet programs apart from Excel.
Furthermore, the speaker explained the “Autosum” function, which includes patterns for number sequencing, and also days of the week. This was followed by a brief explanation of the “Formatting” option, which mainly included the merging of cells. The participants also were acquainted with various other options like angular representation of data and wrap text.
Day 2 of the workshop started with a revision of the previous day's concepts, ensuring that the practical problems were being understood and practiced by the participants. The main topics covered on the second day were Protection, Filtering, and Arrangement of data in Excel. The speaker also taught how to make charts, their design, and formatting as per requirements. To conclude, the speaker explained some basic and yet important Functions in excel, which include; SUM, AVERAGE, MIN, and MAX.
This was followed by a Question and Answer session wherein all the doubts of the participants were cleared. The Excel workshop concluded with a small quiz on the topics covered.
HALLOWEEN PARTY

The BAF Committee of HR College organized a virtual Halloween Party on zoom. All attendees dressed up as per the Halloween theme.
The evening started with the game, “Horror Movie Pitch Deck” which required the participants to guess the name of the movies/tv-shows based on the pictures/ audios being presented to them. There was active participation from the audience for this game.
The second game was a “Spin the Wheel Round” which needed voluntary participation from the attendees. A wheel was being spun and based on the resulting number on the wheel; each volunteer answered some fun questions asked by the organizing committee.
The third game received maximum participation and was indeed a lot of fun. Through voluntary participation again, a person was given a phrase that he/she had to lip-sync or enact, while the others guessed.
Furthermore, the final game of the night, too, was an immersive round. The participants were given a letter and based on that, they needed to make up words related to Halloween, a food item, a movie/ web series, and a general college theme.
FEED A STRAY
February 1, 2022Feed-a-stray is an initiative to feed stray animals and birds.
The committee members made bird feeders and distributed them among the college staff and students. Each member also fed the stray animals in their neighbourhood.

Furthermore, she guided the students to find a perfect course and university for higher education and wrote Essays and Letter of Recommendation for the same.

October 12-17, 2020The Committee organised an Icebreaker Series for the First year BAF students spanning across a period of 6 days. The series consisted of games that were not only fun but educational as well. It proposed to bring unity among the freshers while getting them to know each other better.
