BFM Committee

The sole aim of the BFM Committee is to spread financial literacy by bringing forward a new perspective of learning, growing, and developing together.

Apart from that we also conduct various workshops and masterclasses wherein experts from National Stock Exchange, Bombay Stock Exchange, and various renowned institutions come in and share their knowledge.

In your journey of learning finance, we hope to be the last and the most important piece of the jigsaw puzzle and complete what has been missing.

Post Union Budget Panel Discussion 2024-25

August 7, 2024

H.R. College of Commerce and Economics in collaboration with the IMC Young Leaders Forum organized a ‘Post Union Budget Panel Discussion’.

The panel included experts : CA. Shardul Shah, CA. Apurva Chaturvedi, CA. Kunjal Parekh, CA. Aastha Dhowan and Dr. Navin Punjabi as a moderator.

The session was insightful and gave students an opportunity to understand the importance of the budget from a broader and a realistic perspective. It also emphasized how the budget is going to impact in the forthcoming year with respect to employment , skills , MSME's and markets.

The session was attended by 270 students. It concluded with Q & A round, questions were duly answered by the panel members with their expertise in the respective fields.

Event: FinHousie - Financial Literacy Session

August 21, 2024

The BFM Committee organized an interactive financial literacy session in collaboration with the Krisha Foundation. The session featured FinHousie, a gamification tool for Financial Literacy and Investor Awareness developed by the Bombay Stock Exchange under the SEBI SMART Investor Awareness Program. The event started with a brief introduction to the financial markets, followed by an engaging game of financial housie. This innovative approach effectively spread knowledge and raised awareness about financial markets. The session was both informative and entertaining, offering participants the chance to win exciting vouchers through the game. Overall, the event was a success, with approximately 50 students, primarily first-year students, in attendance.

Financial Literacy Session for Non-Teaching Staff

The session emphasized financial planning, focusing on the importance of separate funds for emergencies and investments, as well as life insurance policies. The speaker discussed various investment avenues, risk and return, and the power of compounding in a manner easily understood, especially in Hindi. All doubts were satisfactorily addressed, and the speaker provided contact details for future guidance.

The session covered various investment avenues, highlighting the differences in their risk and return profiles, the benefits of long-term disciplined investing, and the power of compounding through SIPs in mutual funds. The speaker effectively addressed all student queries, providing detailed information for future contact and guidance.

Event: Live Screening of the Union budget.

July 23, 2024

The event began by highlighting the significance of the Budget. It was an interactive session that facilitated a discussion among the participants.

The screening was successful, attended by 190 students across all the courses. The technical execution was smooth, with clear audio-visual quality and interactive features enhancing the experience.

The positive feedback from the students shows that it was a great opportunity for them to deepen their understanding of economic policies and their impact on various sectors.

Event: 30-Hour Certification Course on Python & Derivatives

September 21–30, 2024

The BFM Committee at HR College successfully organized a 30 hour Certification Program aimed at equipping students with essential skills in Python programming and derivatives. The sessions covered Python basics, its applications in finance, and an introduction to derivatives, including options, futures, and hedging strategies. Each session was conducted by a different expert, offering diverse perspectives and practical insights. To ensure active participation and understanding, regular tests were conducted throughout the course. The program enabled students to build technical and financial knowledge, preparing them for academic and professional growth.

Event: Cyclothon

October 19, 2024

The BFMC volunteers participated in the Cyclothon event as part of Investor Week, aimed at promoting financial awareness across Mumbai. Over 100 cyclists from various parts of the city assembled at the college gate at 6:30 a.m., where the rally began with an inaugural balloon release.

Cyclists followed a route from Nariman Point to Chowpatty and then returned to the college, showcasing some of Mumbai’s most iconic spots. BFMC volunteers were stationed at key intersections to manage traffic and ensure the participants' safety throughout the rally. The event was impactful in spreading financial awareness and allowed BFMC members to contribute meaningfully to the community, reinforcing our commitment to financial literacy and public engagement.
